Desire comes from the stars — literally.
The Latin root of desire means to await what the stars will bring. So when you suppress what you desire, when you can’t even speak it out loud, you’re not just playing small — you’re turning away from your original design and leadership.
This Aries New Moon on April 17 brings seven planets into Aries. No planets in retrograde. Everything is full steam ahead. The cosmos is asking: what do you desire — and are you brave enough to say it?
In this episode of Star Powered, I’m breaking down the astrology of this rare Aries stellium, the deeper meaning of desire and devotion, and the Aries archetype — plus intention prompts for all 12 signs.
In this episode, you’ll learn:
- Why desire is literally written in the stars — and what that means for your leadership
- What each planet in the Aries stellium is asking you to heal, claim, and act on
- The difference between desire and devotion — and why you need both
- How your fears are actually a map to what you most want
- New Moon intention prompts for all 12 signs by house
Desire and Devotion: The Two Keys to Your Leadership
Desire originates from the Latin desiderare — to long for, to miss. It is commonly believed to mean to await what the stars will bring.
That means when you suppress your desires, when you can’t speak them out loud — you’re turning away from the stars themselves.
And devotion? When I look at Mars (the ruler of Aries) and Neptune (the planet of spirituality) together in the sky, I see the word devotion. Mars is action and desire. Neptune is the spiritual vow, the promise. Together: to dedicate by vow. A promise to yourself.
Desire is the key to your leadership. Devotion is the key to getting what you desire.
Now I know that speaking your desires out loud can be really, really hard — and it’s not your fault. Maybe you’re stuck in the “how.” Maybe you haven’t seen proof it’s possible for you. Maybe past experiences have convinced you it won’t work.
My friend, these are the exact shadows this Aries New Moon is asking us to heal.
The Aries New Moon Astrology: A 7-Planet Stellium
The Aries New Moon happens on Friday, April 17 at 4:51am Pacific. And with seven planets in Aries — this is the Aries New Moon of all Aries New Moons.
The Aries party:
- Neptune at 2° Aries — transcend and rise above
- Mercury at 3° Aries — put words to your desire
- Mars at 5° Aries — motivate and energize
- Saturn at 7° Aries — choose wisely, focus your devotion
- Chiron at 26° Aries — it is safe to be you
- Sun and Moon at 27° Aries — set your intention here
Venus is in her home sign of Taurus. Jupiter is exalted in Cancer — completely unaspected, but like the guest at the party everyone is talking about. Jupiter is belief. And right now it’s saying: you gotta believe. If you cannot believe it’s possible for you, that’s where we start.
This will also be our last New Moon near Chiron in Aries. Chiron has been reminding us for years: it is safe to be you. It is safe to have your identity. It is safe to lead. Your healing was never the issue.
The issue is that you have been waiting for permission. Aries doesn’t wait for permission.
The Aries Archetype: Claim Your Firsts, Own Your Best
Aries lives in every chart. Even if you don’t have a planet in Aries, you have Aries in a house — and that house holds the key to your desire. Even fear is a key to your desire. Scared of visibility? What you desire is to be seen. Afraid of being alone? What you desire is deep connection. Turn your fear upside down — it always points toward what you truly want.
And this: there is nobody else like you. Nobody else can compare. When you claim who you were born to be as the very best — there is no competition. Being the first is scary. But you are the first at something. What can you claim?
